Lent begins with the imposition of ashes on Ash Wednesday, February 14th. All of the liturgies during Lent are intended to prepare us for the celebration of Easter, either as Catechumens preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation for the first time, or as members of the faithful, already fully initiated, yet preparing to renew our baptismal promises and seeking to fortify the grace of the sacraments already received. The sacrament of Penance accompanies us in this quest. The following are the principal moments of prayer that will be held in the Papal Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi this Lenten Season.
