The Musical Chapel of the Papal Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi, brought to life in 1230 for the animation of the liturgical functions of the Shrine, has been an important center since the Middle Ages for the execution and creation of sacred music. Many famous personalities have contributed over the centuries to the enhancement and musical production, all recorded in the Library of the Sacro Convento. The activity of the Musical Chapel continues today under the direction of Father Giuseppe Magrino, OFM Conv., performing a service of liturgical animation of inestimable worth, as well as offering pilgrims likewise valuable performances of sacred music.
