The places of Basilica

Inside the Sacred Convent of Saint Francis in Assisi can be found the following:

- the 'Library of the Sacro Convento': an ecclesiastical library open to the public, and dependent upon the General Custody of the Sacro Convento of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. Since 1971 it has been serving as the library for the Theological Institute of Assisi and aggregated to the Faculty of Sacred Theology of the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome;

- the 'Ancient Foundation of the Municipal Library of Assisi': which constitutes a gathering together of libraries of convents in Assisi suppressed in 1866; they were incorporated into the Library of the Sacro Convento in 1981 under an agreement with the Municipality of Assisi;

- The 'Library of the International Society of Franciscan Studies - SISF': housed by the Library of the Sacro Convento since 1999.

Moreover there are also patrimonies from the 'Conventual Historical Archive', the 'Photographic Archive' and the 'Archive of the Musical Chapel of the Basilica of Saint Francis'.
